Europa Cantat is...

- the European federation of young choirs,
  founded in 1963
- the premier European youth choir organisation
- a European network of choir organisations,
  choirs as well as  individual singers and
  conductors

 

Europa Cantat directly represents

  • more than 1 million singers and conductors in 42 countries all over Europe and indirectly reaches 20 million


Europa Cantat aims at

 

  • improving the quality of vocal music all over Europe 
  • Supporting singing at all age levels, especially the singing of children and young people
  • Advocating for music education for all children in kindergartens and elementary schools and the importance of singing within music education
  • Encouraging life-long learning and the dialogue between the generations, offering opportunities to singers of all ages
  • Being the reference organisation for singing at all age levels, especially singing among children and young people and offering services to the choral world
  • supporting cultural diversity and promoting cultural exchange within Europe
  • encouraging the mobility of conductors, composers and singers
  • encouraging the creation of innovative contemporary vocal music
  • Serving choral life in Europe
  • encouraging the exchange of artistic and organisational  knowledge and experience between choir organisations in Europe
  • Supporting the promotion of tolerance and inclusion through choral singing
  • making its activities accessible to (young) people from all European countries including those who are geographically, economically, socially or otherwise disadvantaged

-         on the basis of respect for differing cultures and a strong belief in the social and economic importance of vocal music

-         with a special focus on children and young people under 27
